fun in the sun!

Katelyn had her fourth birthday party this morning.  She invited all of her friends and we planned on having a "Fun in the Sun" themed birthday party with sprinklers and wading pools out in the backyard.

We were nervous all week because the weather report predicted an 80% chance of rain for today.  I made some back up plans in case we would be stuck inside and hoped for the best.  This morning, as Dave and I were getting everything ready for our guests, we looked out the window to see a wall of dark clouds rolling our way.  Fortunately, it rained for a few minutes and the clouds moved by quickly.  We had a beautiful sunny day for Kate's pool party!

Kate and her friends had so much fun sliding into the pool, running through the sprinkler, and playing a relay game with cute little watering cans.

My mom made the most adorable beach cake for Kate.  She created a very detailed ocean side scene of Teddy Grahams sunbathing on little licorice towels and swimming in the ocean with their "Life Savers."  It was perfect for our "Fun in the Sun" party.

Kate had so much fun today.  She is so lucky to have so many great friends.  Thank you to everyone for making Kate's fourth birthday party such a terrific day!

story time

This morning Katelyn went to the library for Story Time with her friend Matthew.  Story time is for kids who are not in school yet but are getting ready for pre-school.  Kate is a little young but she loved listening to the songs and watching the other kids.

Her favorite part was the "Beanbag Balance" song.  Everyone got a bean bag and tried to balance it on their heads, hands, feet, and noses while they sang a song.  She was captivated.

This week's Story Time was all about the letter "W" and they read stories about the wind.  At the end of the hour, there is a craft for all the kids.  Today, they made windsocks to hang outside.  Really, I did all the crafting while I tried to keep Katelyn from licking the glue stick but I guess I'll let her take the credit. :)

baby kate's museum adventure

Katelyn invited her friend Rahzy to the Children's Museum today.  We had a great time!

First, we got all buckled in for our big adventure.

Katelyn was dressed appropriately for posing in a train.  I wonder if train conductors still wear overalls?

The museum had a fun area for babies and toddlers.  Every thing was padded. (Which is great for little baby girls who think they can stand on their own.) There were all sorts of toys and other fun games for the kids to explore.

When they got thirsty, Kate and Rahzy enjoyed a nice drink in the little play house at the little foam table.

"Would you care for a spot of tea, Katelyn?"

"Why, yes.  Thank you!"

One of Katelyn's favorite things was the car with a steering wheel and buttons.

Rahzy didn't seem too sure about her driving skills though. :)

We had a great time at the museum and can't wait to go again.
