you my momma

Katelyn has come up with the most adorable way of expressing her affection.  Literally dozens of times a day I hear the words, "You my momma."  Instead of a plain and boring "I love you," she simply claims the people that she loves with a simple expression of possession.

"You my momma."

"You my grandma."

"You my bapa (grandpa)."

And perhaps the best of all, "You my daddy."  She screams this phrase at the top of her lungs over and over when Dave walks through the door after a long day at work.

She started this a few months ago and it didn't take long to figure out that it was very clearly her way of telling us that she loves us.  She says it every time she wakes up in the morning and any time she feels especially loving.

The other night, Dave and I were lying in bed after finally getting both kids to bed and just talking about the day's events.  Dave mentioned that it will be a little sad when one day he walks through the door to hear a standard issue "Hi Daddy" when he gets home from work.

I think it will be a lot sad.  That's why I always respond in kind with a "You my Katie."
