happy memorial day

When I was pregnant with Katelyn, I assumed that weekends would lose their luster.  There really are no days off for a mom.  And then there are all of those memes going around that say, "Woo hoo!  It's the weekend.  Oh wait, I'm a mom."  I just expected the days would all merge together into one giant Pangaea week.

I was so wrong.

Weekends are still amazing!  Even mom ones are great.  Dave is home and he lets me sleep in.  We do fun things like go to the library and walk around Target.  (Okay.  We are not too exciting.  No need to go crazy.)  I realize now that even though I'm still on duty, I count down to the weekend just like the rest of the population.

Three day weekends are even better.

Saturday we went swimming in the morning with my parents and Lauren and then lounged around until nap time.  After Kate's nap, we visited the library and walked around Whole Foods just for the fountain.  Off the hook crazy!!!!!

Sunday was nice because we just relaxed after church knowing that our weekend had one more day.

Today, Dave went out to see a movie with my dad and grandpa.  Katelyn and I took it easy around the house reading books and dancing.  My grandma's birthday is this Wednesday so we celebrated today with her favorite dinner at her house.

HAMBURGERS!!!

It was definitely a challenge to stay on my diet with this kind of feast but I am proud to say that there was absolutely no cheating.  She even made a special diet friendly dessert for me.

We ended our weekend with more swimming and now everyone is exhausted.  As I'm writing this post, Katelyn is sound asleep, Dave is dosing off next to me with a book, and my eyelids are stinging from exhaustion.  I'd say it was a pretty great weekend.
