She has been trying to crawl for weeks. She can scoot backwards and sideways (we call it the "sidewinder") and she can spin around. So, there we were, trying to get Kate to scoot towards the candy when all of the sudden she crawled!
I immediately started screaming for D to get his phone out and catch the momentous occasion with his camera. You just watched the very first time Baby Kate crawled. Ever!
Sometimes it's astounding to me how technology has changed since I was a kid. It makes me feel really old actually. When I was younger, I remember my parents buying a camcorder. It was a really big deal. The camera was huge and it came with teeny tiny tapes that we had to put into a larger converter tape to watch them on the dinosaur VCR. There was no editing so if my dad recorded my brother's entire YMCA basketball game (which he did more than once), you had to fast forward through it to get to whatever it was you wanted to see. There are no videos of me crawling but every major milestone of Kate's life has been recorded on film for posterity. It makes me imagine a future like that movie The Truman Show where every second of Jim Carrey's entire life has been recorded.
So thanks to technology, here are two more videos of Katelyn trying to crawl. It's not quite polished yet but she is well on her way to being a mobile baby.
In the last video, you were introduced to Bones, Katelyn's banjo picking Southern skeleton friend. My mom picked him up in an after Halloween sale and Katelyn has been obsessed with him ever since. She is frightened and intrigued by him at the same time. At first, she would start talking to him from across the room and yelling until he pushed the button to make him play while she watched from a safe distance. Now, as you can see, she crawls right towards him like they are good friends.
