I can't think about conference without thinking of crocheting. I love to crochet but don't usually unless it is conference. It seriously helps me listen. I really wish I could crochet in church but I think I would attract some stares.
I'm pretty good at crocheting. I can make a nice even stitch and I am fast but I have one problem... I can only make squares. I can crochet little squares (dish rags) and big squares (blankets). I can also crochet rectangles (scarves) but they don't look pretty.
One conference weekend long ago, I got really tired of making squares and decided that I would crochet a sock. For years, my mom has kept the conference sock. I have been away from home for conference for the past seven years but I always got a picture of Mom wearing the conference sock. This year, I got to see the sock in person.
This weekend, I made dish rags for my new apartment. First, Katelyn helped me pick out some yarn.
On Sunday KiKi and Poppy came over for Sunday dinner. D, of course, made his famous German pancakes with bacon and eggs.
Grandma wore her jazzy shoes.
We had such a great time. The talks and the messages were so uplifting. It seemed like one of the major themes of the conference included serving others and learning to observe when people are in need of help. It reminded me how important it is to share my blessings with those around me.
You can listen for yourself at lds.org.
This was my favorite post! I love Katelyn in the yarn box and the conference sock.
