When Jack and I were kids, he used to buy us season tickets as well. Neither of us really liked football but we loved spending time with my dad.
We would park in the farthest parking lot as possible to save money. It was called the Elgin Lot. Jack and I hated the Elgin lot because my dad would walk really fast to make it in time for the kick off and Jack and I had little legs. We would have to run to keep up with my dad's giant strides.
When we got in the stadium we met up with my dad's friends Mike and Steve. The game would start and we would get bored with the football stuff very quickly. Jack and I found ways to stay entertained. My all time favorite UH story includes nachos from the concession stand.
One of the great things about UH games is that dad would buy us anything we wanted from the concession stand. We almost always bought nachos. Neither of us really like jalapenos but we knew my dad did so we put them on the nachos. My dad really never wanted any nachos so the jalapeno slices turned into entertainment as well.
One time, I loaded a plastic fork with a cheesy jalapeno slice and pretended like I was about to launch it across the stands. Jack thought I was serious and tried to stop me but swatting at the hand that was pulling the fork back. Of course, that caused the spicy missile to take flight and it landed on the back of a guy sitting a few rows ahead of us.
Jack was terrified. My dad was horrified. I couldn't stop laughing and the guy with the jalapeno on his back was completely oblivious. The pepper stayed there on his back for an entire quarter before the person sitting behind him finally flicked it off. My whole family still laughs about it today.
The newest UH Cougar posed with D and dad.
lolol This still ranks as one of the funniest moments of my entire life.
