class is in session

Baby Kate has been very serious lately.  She has been so serious that we have been calling her the little professor.  Katelyn's object of study: her hands and feet.

We think that she is just discovering her limbs and she is beginning to realize that she controls them.  Katelyn spends large amounts of time staring at her foot while moving it up and down slowly.  She stares so intently that you almost can't distract her.

Little K can hold her head up steadily and by herself now and she never wants to lie down.  If she is reclined even a little bit, she will use all of her strength to sit up all the way to look around.  One of her favorite things to look at is an intricate pattern.

Professor K has an extensive collection of books.  She has books about shapes and books about colors.  Her book about numbers is her favorite.  She will gaze on a particular picture, look at it intently for a while and then smile.  We can tell when she is seriously concentrating because she will go from flailing her arms and kicking her legs to holding still while she focuses on her reading.

 It's fun to see her silly smiles and goofy grins but it's also so much fun to watch her learn about the world around her. :)
